New! Lock down your posts before publishing

An old feature from Google Plus is the ability to disable commenting and lock down a post after it’s published, allowing you to keep your friends from sharing the post to others, or to prevent comments on a post.

Starting today, it’s now possible to adjust those settings before the post is posted, allowing you to fine tune the posts. You can choose to change those preferences in the new drop box next to the share bar. Check out this video to see how:

Google launches Google plus API

Developers, do you want to create websites and utilities based around Google Plus? Now you can with the release of a limited version of the Google+ API. Google has released extensive APIs for many of its products, but Google+ was unfortunately left out until now.

Before this release, the most you can do to integrate Google+ with your web app is to add one of those +1 buttons. Now, the API enables you to do a whole lot more with your Google+ users.

New! Follow popular Google+ users

Twitter users may have found it difficult to follow celebrities and other popular figures on Google+ due to it’s lack of suggested people to follow. When you sign up for Twitter, you will be greeted with a huge list of celebrities to follow, making it very easy to find and to connect with various stars.

Now, something very similar is being implemented to Google+, according to a tweet by Google’s Vice President of product:

Hangsout now integrated with YouTube

Ever wanted to watch a video with your friends? You could send it via IM to them, but they won’t be able to watch it in real time with you.

Today, Google added a feature that allows Google+ users to start a Hangout straight from the video sharing options, without leaving the page. Simply click the “Share” button under the video player and click on “Start a Google+ Hangout” to get started!

Facebook blocking G+ invite links?

An interesting video popped up on Facebook, it seems that the social networking giant Facebook is blocking Google Plus invite links from friend’s feeds. We haven’t verified this for ourselves yet and we do not know if it’s true or just an uncanny coincidence.

Google+ invites now updated(and restricted)

If you are one of the lucky ones with a Google plus account the last two weeks, you would have noticed that you can invite an unlimited number of people to Google+ simply by entering their e-mail address. Google +1 button updated, now faster and asynchronous

+1 Button from Google gets updatedSome webmasters have reported that Google’s Plus One (+1) button can slow down their blog and web site quite a bit. The good news is that Google reported to have addressed this issue and made the publisher button 3x as fast than before.

A source of complaint is that the JavaScript code needed to load the button is slow, therefore degrading the site speed and quality. Google+ suspending accounts en masse

User suspended in Google PlusWatch out, novelty accounts on Google+. Numerous users and celebrities have been blogging about getting suspended and kicked out of Google+ due to a violation of community standards. It seems that users not using their real name or businesses accounts are the ones targeted during today’s deletion, but also legitimate users and some celebrities accounts suspected to be fake and imitations. Users that are suspended will be met with the following message once they visit their profile:
